When is Carnaval?

In 2027, Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro runs from February 5 to February 10, with the main parades occurring February 7-9. The parade of champions happens on February 13.

Can I participate in a Carnaval parade?

Yes! Aspire to dance samba no pé? Get your glow up in an international ala of passistas. Have two left feet? No worries! You can strut the Avenida and support a samba school in a commercial ala – no pressure or training, just good vibes.

Why should I choose Ginga Love?

I’m a bi-lingual hospitality expert who made Rio home for more than half a decade. Understanding the nuances of a North American traveler, I combine keen local awareness with a vetted roster of professionals who excel in their fields to deliver unforgettable travel experiences tailored to your tastes.

How do you plan a Ginga Love experience?

Beginning with a brief interview, we’ll brainstorm to determine the dates and destination, then custom curate an itinerary that considers your personality, preferences, timeline and budget. Looking for leisure? Amping up your athleticism? Fancy a food tour? We’ve got that, and more.

What if I am new to capoeira and/or samba?

Regardless of your limitations, real or imagined: You can enjoy a capoeira roda, even on your first time. The same is true for samba. Rest assured, we’ll help you pinpoint the places and pros that will meet you where you are in your journey with Afro-Brazilian arts.

Do I need special authorization to travel to Brazil?

As of April 10, 2025, as a US citizen, you are required to obtain an eVisa. The cost is under $100 and the expedient process is completed electronically. There is no need to pay extra to use a third party service. You will receive an email with your visa document upon approval, which must be printed and taken with you on your day of travel.
